I am a worldwide known horse rider and competitor in the sport of long distance horse races. The sport called Endurance riding is typically 100 mile one day races over mountain trails or 50 mile races in 12 hours or less. The motto of the sport is “To finish is to Win” everyone who complete the course in the time allowed receives an award a silver buckle for Tevis, however some say second place is the first loser.
Fact is just completing the event is an accomplishment and about 50% fail to finish. There is an award for the first to finish as well as awards normally for the top ten to finish. The sport is under the control of veterinarians who constantly monitor the welfare of the horses. A good reference just research Tevis Cup.
The Tevis Ride is considered the toughest 100 mile ride in the world. I have participated in this event one way or another for over 40 years. I have published a book on the Tevis ride titled “Ride Like Potato” it is available on Amazon. I breed and raise my own Arabian horses to participate in this sport and have done so for over 40 years.
A guest house on an Arabian horse ranch. Guests have access to beautiful hiking trails that lead to the American river where they can swim, have lunch and enjoy the outdoors. There is River rafting nearby as well as sandy beaches on the river. There are horses to watch roa.
